United States Table Tennis Hall of Fame Welcomes Richard Char as USATT Liaison to the Board of Directors

The United States Table Tennis Hall of Fame (USTT HOF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Char as the new USATT Liaison to the USTT HOF Board of Directors. This position was formally approved by a vote of the U.S. Table Tennis Hall of Fame Board as part of an intentional effort to strengthen communication, coordination, and mutual understanding between the Hall of Fame and USA Table Tennis.

Mr. Char brings a rare combination of governance experience, legal expertise, and business leadership to this role. He currently serves as a Board Member of USA Table Tennis and previously held the position of Board Chair from 2020 to 2024. In his professional career, Mr. Char is Senior Vice President of Business Development and General Counsel for Lazlo 326 and M10 Networks. Over the past 35 years, he has worked as a Silicon Valley lawyer, investment banker, and technology company executive.

Mr. Char received his A.B. from Harvard College and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, credentials that reflect deep experience in strategic leadership, nonprofit governance, and organizational oversight.

The creation of the USATT Liaison role reflects the Hall of Fame’s commitment to open dialogue and cooperation, while maintaining clear organizational independence. As a reminder, “The United States Table Tennis Hall of Fame (“HOF”) is independent of United States of America Table Tennis (“USATT”). HOF does not represent USATT. HOF and USATT have separate management and separate finances.”

“Richard’s background, institutional knowledge, and steady leadership make him an ideal choice for this role,” said Sean O’Neill, President of the U.S. Table Tennis Hall of Fame. “This appointment supports our shared goal of better communication while respecting the distinct missions and responsibilities of each organization.”

“I am honored to serve as the USATT Liaison to the U.S. Table Tennis Hall of Fame Board,” said Richard Char. “The Hall of Fame plays a vital role in preserving the history and values of our sport. I look forward to supporting constructive communication between the organizations while respecting their independence and distinct responsibilities.”

The U.S. Table Tennis Hall of Fame looks forward to working with Mr. Char in this new capacity and welcomes his involvement as the organization continues to honor excellence and preserve the legacy of table tennis in the United States.
